For Individuals & Families
Health coverage priced on what you earn.
ACA marketplace plans are income-based, which means the premium is tied to your household income and size — not to your health. Many individuals and families qualify for coverage as low as $0 per month. Whether you do depends on your numbers, and it takes a few minutes to find out.
How income-based coverage works
Why two neighbors pay completely different premiums
Your subsidy is calculated from income
The marketplace applies an advance premium tax credit based on your projected household income and household size. That credit is applied directly to your monthly premium.
Health history doesn't change the price
ACA plans are guaranteed issue. Pre-existing conditions can't be excluded and can't raise your rate. Age, location, and tobacco use affect pricing — your medical history does not.
The credit can cover the full premium
For many households the credit covers the entire monthly cost of an available plan. That's where a $0 premium comes from — it isn't free coverage, it's a fully applied credit.
Who this usually works well for
Self-employed people and 1099 contractors, hourly workers whose employer doesn't offer a plan, families between jobs, people who just came off a parent's or spouse's plan, and early retirees who aren't yet Medicare-eligible.
Carrier access
We shop the market, not one company
We're an independent agency, so we're not paid to move you toward one carrier. We work with major national and regional carriers and compare what's actually available where you live.
We work with major national and regional carriers, including UnitedHealthcare, Ambetter, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Humana, Oscar, and many others.
We're an independent agency and shop across carriers rather than push one product. Availability, provider networks, plan benefits, and pricing vary by state, by county, and by eligibility. Carrier names are shown for identification only and do not imply endorsement by that carrier.
What we check for you
- Whether your doctors are in network
- Whether your prescriptions are on the formulary
- Deductible and out-of-pocket maximum
- Whether you qualify for cost-sharing reductions
What it costs to use us
Nothing. We're compensated by the carrier when you enroll. Your premium is identical whether you enroll through us or on your own — the difference is having a licensed agent when something goes wrong.
When you can enroll
During Open Enrollment, or any time you have a qualifying life event — losing coverage, moving, marriage, divorce, or a new baby. A qualifying event opens a Special Enrollment Period.
Worth knowing
A health plan alone leaves gaps
Even a good ACA plan has a deductible. If you're hospitalized in March, that deductible is due in March — and your income may stop at the same moment your bills start.
Accident & hospital indemnity
These pay cash directly to you, not to a provider. Use it for the deductible, for rent, for groceries, or to replace income while you're out of work. See how it pays →
Dental & vision
Major medical generally doesn't cover cleanings, fillings, crowns, exams, frames, or lenses. Standalone plans handle those, with no-waiting-period options available. See plans →
